Most of our courses are 9 weeks long and follow school term times - for example January to April. We also offer 5 week courses approximately half-way through our 10 week courses in order for clients not to have to wait too long for training classes. These 5 week courses cover approximately half the 9 week course content.
5 week courses give basic control but obviously do not give you all that we think is necessary to have a well behaved dog. We believe that 9 weeks is the minimum amount of training needed and therefore all 5 week Beginner clients will be offered a subsequent 5 week course (called Novice) that enables them to reach the same standard of obedience as they would have done had they taken the 9 week course. Further 9 week Intermediate and Advanced Courses would then also be available.
PLEASE NOTE - COURSES FILL ON A 'FIRST COME, FIRST SERVED' BASIS AND WE ARE ALWAYS OVER SUBSCRIBED. WE THEREFORE SUGGEST IF YOU ARE REGISTERING NEAR TO THE START DATE THAT YOU HAND DELIVER YOUR FORM AND PAYMENT IN ORDER TO SECURE A PLACE (IN WHICH CASE, IT IS ADVISEABLE TO PHONE AND CHECK FIRST THAT THERE ARE SPACES LEFT).
THE FORMS BELOW ARE FOR THE 9 WEEK COURSES STARTING W/B 19th, 21st & 22nd JANUARY 2010

For all 9 week Beginner Courses you will not need to bring your dog to the first session, which is an induction session where you meet the rest of your class members and have the chance to discuss any concerns you may have. After all subsequent practical classes there is a talk on the training session, your instructor will be there to put your mind at rest over any queries or problems you may be experiencing, whether training related or not. It may be useful to bring a pen. Please note these sessions are not compulsory and only last about 15 minutes, and we understand if you are unable to stay, although most people find them very interesting as all sorts of topics are discussed!
Please bring proof of vaccination to your first session.
Family members are welcome to attend at any time and we ask that the noise level is kept to a minimum so as not to distract either the dogs or you whist the training is in progress.
The final class date at the end of term for all 9 week day & evening courses is Tuesday 23rd, Thursday 25th or Friday 26th March according to which day/evening you normally attend.
On this final fun session, you will receive your certificate of attendance (you must have attended at least 7 out of the 9 classes in order to obtain this). You will be invited to watch demonstrations of what you can achieve with further training at our more advanced levels. Your Instructor will advise you of the start time of this final session. Please note these demonstrations may start before or after your final class.
Please note - CDTS reserves the right to remove from class any dog that we feel is unsuitable for a class situation. If this is the case, we are happy to offer help via private lessons instead to help you overcome any problems you may be having. The number of private sessions offered is at our discretion.
The correct equipment is essential for the successful training of your dog. Collars, leads (including flexi's) and other accessories such as toys, books and treats will be available at competitive rates on the first night and throughout the term.
There are a few things that you will need to know before your first night. They are as follows:
Please bring proof of vaccination.
Ladies please wear trousers (skirts stop your dog working close to your side)
Please bring a plastic bag (for accidents)
You will need small treats (cheese or sausage chopped up small is ideal)
You may find it useful to bring a notebook and pen
Please allow 1 hour 15 mins for your class
Initially, some exercises require you to kneel on the floor - feel free to bring something to kneel on if necessary.
If you have physical problems kneeling, please discuss this with us before the class starts.
Equally some dogs do not like lying down on hard surfaces. Please feel free to bring a small piece of bedding if appropriate.
If you need to feed your dog, please feed at least 2 hours before your class starts, we usually advise you to wait until you return
home - your dog will be more focused on your treats if he/she is hungry!
Should you require any further information please do not hesitate to contact us, we look forward to meeting you and your dog.
